Our Story

I’m Shona, and I’m the founder of Cleaning Mums & Co. More importantly, I'm a mum to my sweet boy Freddy.

In 2024, I became a mum for the first time and I found this journey to motherhood to be the most incredible time in my life, and also one of the most challenging. Originally from Ireland, I've called Brisbane home for 11 years now. As an expat, I quickly realised how much I missed my village, I lacked that crucial, practical support around me while I found my feet as a new mother.

Through conversations with other mums, it became clear that this feeling of being isolated and overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood wasn’t just mine.

I tried multiple local cleaning companies, but they didn’t offer the kind of holistic care my home (and I!) truly needed. I needed domestic support alongside additional, essential tasks like changing the bed sheets as I recovered, or preparing a simple dinner so I could get some rest when my son finally napped. Managing the laundry, cleaning, dusting, bottle washing, and cooking while sleep-deprived was a major hurdle!

This realisation inspired me to create the village I wished I’d had - a dedicated service that would stand alongside mums to offer genuine support during the postpartum stage and as they thrive in the years that follow.

I am so happy to be able to support fellow mums in the Brisbane Northern suburbs!
